Viewing SMS messages from patients

Depending on your organisation and permissions, you can view SMS messages from patients about their appointments. You can view these SMS messages from  Outpatients > Manage > Received SMS Messages.

Patients might send you messages if they:

  • Want a different type of appointment

    For example, if they can't do a face-to-face appointment that day, but they can do a telephone appointment. You can change how the appointment is delivered.

  • Can't attend the appointment

    For example, if they are unwell, have a more pressing engagement, or they have a holiday booked. You can add the patient to a waiting list for an appointment, or reschedule the appointment.

You can send ad-hoc letters or SMS messages back to the patient. When you have finished your conversation with the patient, you can mark the conversation as complete.
